Imaan and I spent the day at the police station and the court. We were in the Dang Wangi police station to join my fellow Keadilan Youth members including Chief Shamsul Iskandar, Deputy Chief Fariz Musa, Vice Chief Amir Sari, Info Chief Lau Teck Hai and exco Ginie Lim to lodge a police report demanding Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to be investigated on the Altantuya case. At the same time, Shamsul also released a statement protesting the arrest of Nathaniel Tan.
A group of us including Fariz, Amir, Ginie joined Nat’s family, Tian and a few other supporters in the KL Magistrate Court at Jalan Duta for his remand. Siva and Latheefa represented Nat. At first Imaan and I were lost in the huge Jalan Duta court complex and nearly went in through the judge’s chambers, when a few plain clothes policemen pushed through the door. We caught a glimpse of Nat in orange lock-up t-shirt, along with a dozen or so other detainees, and the ever cheerful Nat managed to raise his handcuffed-wrists and gave us a small wave.
At 3.15 PM, the court ruled that Nat was to be remanded for another four days, and is being investigated under the OSA. According to Malaysiakini, police sources revealed that Nat was being held in relation to the ACA investigation against Deputy Security Minister, Datuk Johari Baharum. The Star and Sin Chew Jit Poh speculated that his arrest had to do with Tian Chua’s photo, yet clearly they’re wrong.
Photos are here.

Just wanted to say that I admire you guys for sticking behind your own. There is strength in numbers, and as long as everyone knows Nat’s got friends, no one can touch him.

Joe – I agree, but the message should be conveyed to the powers that be instead! Arresting Nat in the most outrageous manner is not facing it like a man at all.
