I was quite surprised when I read Khairy Jamaluddin making this statement at the nomination of the BN candidate for the Batu Talam by-election:
Opposition leaders (DAP veteran) Lim Kit Siang, (PAS president) Abdul Hadi Awang, Anwar and (PAS secretary-general) Nasharuddin Mat Isa are cowards who are afraid to face the voters.
If they continue like this, they might as well withdraw and disband their parties.
Coming for someone who not only has not ran in a general election, but also won the UMNO Deputy Chief position without contest, it sounds very curious – to put it very politely.
If BN is so confident of facing the people – they should ensure a level playing field and rectify the various weaknesses of our electoral system as admitted even by the EC Chairman. Otherwise don’t dream of accusing the Opposition who has faifthfully upheld the democratic system in spite of BN’s longstanding manipulation as cowards.
